What the stats measure

Results: points percentage, goal differential and goals for and against per game, straight from the standings.

5v5: five-on-five play only, per 60 minutes of it. xG% is the share of expected goals, Corsi % the share of all shot attempts and high-danger chance % the share of the most dangerous chances. Save and shooting percentage and their sum, PDO, show how much of a team's record is finishing and goaltending.

Special teams: power-play and penalty-kill percentages, with the expected goals created and allowed per 60 minutes on each and the penalty differential per game.

BlueLine xG: our own team xG with every situation counted, per game, adjusted for score state, home ice and each rink's scorekeeping; the goalie-adjusted version also weighs who was in net. It tracks real goals more closely than the raw numbers do.

Transition and style: zone entries and rush chances inferred from the play-by-play, defensive-zone exits, offensive-zone time and distance skated from NHL EDGE, faceoffs, hits, blocks, takeaways and giveaways.
