The Trade Machine lets you build an NHL trade between two teams and checks it against the salary cap. Add players from each roster, and the tool recalculates both clubs' cap hit and cap space for the current season, flags a side that would end up over the ceiling, and adds up the contract value moving each way.
Value comes from the BluelineMetrics contract model: every rated player has an expected cap hit based on his production, age and position, so a trade can be judged by how much surplus value each team takes on, not just by names. A team acquiring an Underpaid player on a long deal gains more than the headline cap numbers suggest. Retained salary, term and expiring contracts are all shown so you can see what each side is really getting. Share a finished trade with a link or an image.
