Loading…Drake Batherson is one of the NHL's elite wingers: his 91.5 overall ranks 19th of 384 rated wingers on BluelineMetrics. That makes him the highest-rated player on the Ottawa Senators roster.
His profile is unusually even: every component sits between 82 and 93, so there is no single skill carrying the number.
Over 8 rated seasons since 2018-19 he has averaged 74, peaking at 94.7 in 2025-26; last season's 94.7 was up 6.1 points.
At $4.97M through 2026-27 before unrestricted free agency, the model rates the deal Underpaid: his expected value is $13.7M, so the Ottawa Senators save roughly $8.73M a season against his production.
An extension worth $10.8M a year for 8 seasons (2027-28 to 2034-35) kicks in after that, which the model grades Fair.
His cap hit is the 7th-largest on the Ottawa Senators NHL roster and uses 4.8% of the $104M ceiling; the club currently has $1.37M in cap space.

How we rate players: each skater's overall is a percentile (0-100) built from offense, defense, play driving, finishing, power-play and penalty-kill impact against players at the same position; goalies are rated on goals saved above expected. Contract value compares the cap hit with the salary the model expects for that level of production, age and position. Figures are updated as new games and signings arrive.
